Making reading and writing cool

Dan Freedman - Football’s Literacy Pioneer

Dan Freedman was a self-confessed reluctant reader growing up but went on to become a football journalist who travelled to two World Cups as a part of the official England Team. This experience of working and living with some of the best players in the world inspired Dan to start writing the Jamie Johnson books, which are now a hugely popular children’s TV show and the UK’s most-downloaded children’s TV drama on BBC iPlayer.

Jamie Johnson’s UK book sales are near to one million and the TV series has been broadcast all over the world.

When not writing, Dan gives inspirational talks at schools and sports clubs and has visited over 2,000 to date.

His mission is to make reading and writing cool and he works closely alongside the Premier League.
